NACOSTI CREATES AN EFFICIENT E-PROCUREMENT PLAN FOR ITS OPERATIONS

The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) held a meeting on 7th October 2025 to deliberate on the implementation and utilization of the government’s electronic Government Procurement system.

 The Meeting brought together representatives from all the NACOSTI departments so to enhance understanding of the technological platform and ensure alignment with the government procurement reforms.

The digital system, developed under the National Treasury, focuses to digitalize and streamline all public procurement processes by ensuring all steps from supplier registration and tendering to contract management are fit and accountable for hence ensuring efficiency and transparency for all.

Speaking during the meeting, the officials put emphasis on the importance of adopting the E-GP system because with the digital formation of the system, it will improve suppliers and create public trust, enhance competitiveness, standardize data management, cost reduction in the aspect of papers and other inventories, efficiency and speed in the matter of time frames and quality of service. Creating opportunities for inclusivity is also an achievement from this electronic system because women, youth and people with disabilities will have also to be considered.

Yasmin Hussein, Head of Supply Chain Management, noted that the transition to electronic procurement will help minimize manual errors, reduce paperwork, and ensure that all procurement activities are easily found and properly documented.

 The staff also confirmed its commitment in supporting the transformation system in procuring and ensuring compliance with public procurement missions.

The meeting also had additional demonstrations on key modules of the e-GP system, including supplier registration, tender evaluation, and contract execution. The officials were encouraged to apply the knowledge gained to streamline their daily operations at NACOSTI.
